Leuchie Voice Feb 2007
01 Feb 2007
It was my social worker who first told me about Leuchie House. She thought it was a good idea for me to come here to give my family a break and have sometime to relax. This is my sixth stay at Leuchie House now, already.
I really enjoy the food and the drinks in the evening here. All the carers are very nice and always there for a chat.

No matter what extent of your disability you will have no qualms about the care and love that will be given to you. All the bedrooms are extremely comfortable and the house is set in beautiful grounds which are attractive at any time of the year. There are a number of trips that can be arranged and on each one, if you feel you want to go (there is no pressure if you feel that it would be too much on that particular day and you will be able to change the day to suit you if room is available) and on these trips you will have a care assistant personally assigned to you who will look after your every need.
In addition to the good food and company there is also the advantage of being able to have physiotherapy at no extra cost which is of great benefit.
I have been able to experience all the above giving me great relaxation and respite in my condition. It also has the advantage that those who would normally care for you at home can be left with the certainty that your every need will be met and catered for in a most professional way. The staff are all qualified as carers or nurses who are on hand at every hour of the day and will give unstinting and loving assistance without question.
I have found the whole of my first visit to be very relaxing. I shall be going home in a better frame of mind and more confident to deal with my disability knowing that there is the backing of such a facility which I know would be available to me (if not fully booked) at any time and I would be given a warm welcome.

I have enjoyed my stay at Leuchie as it was what I was looking for: quiet and peaceful, excellent food and 24-hour care provided by friendly and professional staff. During my stay I had reflexology, a massage and aromatherapy and of course physiotherapy with the in house physiotherapist. I used my spare time to do some writing (I write poetry and brought my own laptop which could be connected to the internet) and play Scrabble. Even though there were a lot of trips and in house activities going I could still find a place to work without being disturbed.

Any apprehension I felt before my first visit to Leuchie House was quickly dispelled by the warmth of the welcome and the settling in experience.
A combination of excellent behind the scenes preparation, good organisation and a highly skilled and motivated staff provided a pampering, tailored holiday.
I was happily occupied by indoor and outdoor activities. Physiotherapy treatments using various equipment helped muscle movement. Among the visit options was a trip to a cinema in Edinburgh, where I saw “Notes on a Scandal”. My aromatherapy treatment was sheer indulgence but that’s what holidays are about!
My 5 star holiday experience was completed by good food; good company and varied evening entertainment.
As for the future, of course I will be back!
